Original Third Reich era SS Old Comrades Chevron, also known as the Ehrenwinkel für Alte Kämpfer (“Honor Chevron for Old Fighters”). Constructed in the characteristic inverted “V” pattern using silver-aluminum flatwire tresse with black woven edge borders and black center accent stripes.
This insignia was worn by early NSDAP and SS members who had joined the movement prior to January 30th, 1933, signifying status as one of the regime’s “Old Fighters.” The chevron was typically worn on the upper right sleeve of SS and political uniforms and remains one of the most recognizable political service distinctions of the Third Reich period.
The example shown displays period-style woven construction with visible age and honest uniform removal wear. The metallic tresse retains excellent contrast against the black borders, while the reverse stitching and fold construction are consistent with wartime manufacture.
Condition is very good overall with expected age toning, light fraying, scattered thread wear, and signs of prior uniform application. A desirable original display piece for collectors of SS insignia, political uniforms, and WWII German militaria.
