An attractive and original Kriegsmarine Officer’s Dagger manufactured by the renowned Solingen maker E. & F. Hörster. This classic naval officer’s sidearm features the distinctive etched blade, white celluloid grip with twisted brass wire, and a finely detailed eagle-head pommel, making it an excellent addition to any advanced Third Reich edged weapons collection.
The bright double-edged blade retains its crisp factory-applied naval etching, incorporating traditional maritime motifs including fouled anchors, scrollwork and sailing imagery. The reverse ricasso is correctly marked with the E. & F. Hörster, Solingen maker’s trademark, one of the best-known and most respected manufacturers of German military edged weapons. Hörster produced Kriegsmarine daggers throughout the Third Reich period and remains highly sought after by collectors.
The hilt is fitted with its original ivory-coloured celluloid grip, tightly wrapped with gilt brass wire. The brass crossguard displays the characteristic fouled anchor motif with a fully functioning release button, while the eagle pommel retains excellent detail with attractive age patina.
Accompanying the dagger is its original hammered brass scabbard, complete with both suspension bands and rings. The dagger is further enhanced by its original brown Kriegsmarine portepee, correctly tied and displaying honest age and period character.
