More about the product

An attractive original WWII German Diplomatic Official’s Dagger manufactured by the prestigious Solingen maker Alcoso, complete with its original scabbard. Designed for members of the German Foreign Office and diplomatic corps, these daggers were among the most finely crafted presentation weapons produced during the Third Reich and remain highly sought after by collectors today.

This example features the elegant mother-of-pearl grip, displaying excellent natural colour and lustre with no obvious cracks or repairs. The ornate bronze-finished fittings have developed a pleasing age-related patina, highlighting the quality of their craftsmanship. The crossguard is adorned with the characteristic diplomatic eagle clutching a swastika within an oak wreath, while the beautifully detailed pommel retains its distinctive oak leaf design.

The blade is clearly maker marked Alcoso, Solingen, complete with the firm’s famous trademark. It retains a bright finish with much of its original polish, showing light age-related staining and minor handling marks that are entirely consistent with careful storage and honest use over the past eighty years.

The original pebbled scabbard is fitted with matching bronze-finished mounts and decorative oak leaf suspension bands. It displays an even patina throughout, complementing the dagger perfectly and adding to its appearance.

Overall, this is a genuine and well-preserved example of one of the most elegant German dress daggers of the Second World War. Combining an attractive maker, desirable mother-of-pearl grip and pleasing overall condition, it would make an excellent addition to any advanced collection of German edged weapons or WWII militaria.
