Original Hitler Youth Membership Badge RZM M1/52 by Deschler & Sohn – Numbered No. B 79642

The classic diamond-shaped badge features a gilt tombak frame, vibrant red translucent pebbled enamel, white enamel side panels and the distinctive black HJ emblem. In addition, the reverse retains its original pin, catch and sharply struck factory markings.

Manufactured by Deschler & Sohn

Deschler & Sohn ranked among Germany’s leading manufacturers of political badges and military decorations. The company earned an excellent reputation for precise die work, high-quality enamelling and consistent production standards. Consequently, collectors actively seek badges carrying the RZM M1/52 maker code.

The reverse displays:

• RZM M1/52 maker mark
• Deschler & Sohn, München
• Original membership number B 79642

Numbered Wartime Issue

Unlike many surviving examples, this badge still retains its original membership number. Each numbered Hitler Youth Membership Badge identified a registered member of the organisation. However, wartime records no longer survive, so researchers cannot identify the original owner from the serial number alone.

Furthermore, the “B” prefix appears on a small number of original badges. Most collectors believe it indicates a replacement or later issue, although no surviving official records confirm its exact meaning.

Condition

This example remains in very good original condition.

It features:

• Original gilt tombak construction
• Bright translucent enamel
• Crisp RZM M1/52 maker mark
• Original membership number B 79642
• Original pin and catch
• Honest age-related wear

Overall, the badge displays exceptionally well and retains strong eye appeal.

Historical Significance

The Hitler Youth Membership Badge identified registered members of the Hitlerjugend. Approved manufacturers produced these badges under strict Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) regulations. Therefore, genuine numbered examples from Deschler & Sohn remain highly desirable among collectors today.

Whether displayed on its own or included in a wider collection, this badge represents an important piece of twentieth-century history.
