More about the product

An original WWII German SA Dagger (SA Dienstdolch) manufactured by the respected Solingen maker Gl. Koller Nachf., complete with its original anodised scabbard and brown leather vertical hanger.

Introduced in 1933 as the official dress dagger of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the SA dagger remains one of the most recognisable edged weapons of the Third Reich. This example is produced by the desirable manufacturer Gl. Koller Nachf., Solingen, whose daggers are increasingly sought after by collectors for their quality and comparatively lower production numbers.

The rich brown wooden grip is in excellent condition, displaying an attractive colour with no obvious cracks or repairs visible. The nickel-plated SA eagle remains securely fitted with crisp detail, while the enamel SA roundel is complete and retains excellent colour. The nickel-plated crossguards have developed a pleasing age-related patina, adding to the dagger’s untouched appearance.

The blade features the iconic SA motto “Alles für Deutschland” (“Everything for Germany”), which remains deeply etched and clearly legible. The reverse ricasso is maker marked Gl. Koller Nachf., Solingen, confirming this desirable Solingen manufacturer. The blade retains a bright finish with visible original polish, showing honest age-related staining, light surface scratches and minor handling marks consistent with careful storage over many decades.

The original brown anodised scabbard is fitted with matching nickel-plated mounts and retains much of its original finish. It displays expected age-related crazing and finish wear, giving the dagger an authentic, untouched character. Accompanying the dagger is its original brown leather vertical hanger with metal clip, making this an attractive and complete display set.

Overall, this is a genuine and well-preserved SA dagger by Gl. Koller Nachf., offering an excellent combination of originality, desirable maker and pleasing overall condition. It would make a fine addition to any collection of German edged weapons or WWII militaria.

Historical Context / Collectability

The SA (Sturmabteilung) dagger was introduced in 1933 as the official dress dagger for members of the organisation. Inspired by traditional Renaissance hunting daggers, it quickly became one of the defining symbols of early Third Reich ceremonial dress. The motto “Alles für Deutschland” was adopted to reflect loyalty and service, while the maker’s trademark identified one of many Solingen manufacturers contracted to produce these daggers.

Daggers by Gl. Koller Nachf., Solingen are appreciated by collectors for their quality and are encountered less frequently than those produced by some of the larger manufacturers. Complete examples retaining their original scabbard and hanger continue to enjoy strong collector demand.
