Offered here is an original WWII German SA Dagger by F. Ed. Ohliger, Solingen, one of the scarcer and more desirable commercial manufacturers of early SA edged weapons. Produced during the initial period of SA dagger manufacture between 1933 and 1935, examples bearing this distinctive maker mark are seldom encountered and are highly sought after by collectors. F. Ed. Ohliger is estimated to have produced only around 2,000 SA daggers and is generally regarded as a rarity-rated maker.
The dagger retains its attractive mahogany-coloured wooden grip fitted with the original nickel SA eagle and enamel SA roundel. Both solid nickel crossguards show an honest age patina consistent with an untouched early example.
The blade displays the deeply etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto to the obverse. The reverse ricasso carries the desirable F. Ed. Ohliger, Solingen trademark featuring the distinctive hand-and-torch logo within a circular mark. The blade remains bright overall, showing expected age-related spotting, light oxidation and normal runner marks from years of storage and handling, while retaining a pleasing original appearance.
The original brown anodised steel scabbard is fitted with solid nickel mounts and remains straight with no significant dents visible. The finish displays expected handling wear and age-related marks while maintaining an attractive overall appearance. The suspension ring remains intact.
Overall, this is a very respectable original early SA dagger from one of the rarest Solingen manufacturers. Rare maker examples such as F. Ed. Ohliger are increasingly difficult to locate and remain an excellent addition to any advanced collection of Third Reich edged weapons.
The Model 1933 SA Dagger was introduced following the National Socialist Party’s rise to power and served as the standard edged weapon of the Sturmabteilung (SA). Early production daggers were manufactured by numerous commercial Solingen firms before later production became standardised under the RZM system.
F. Ed. Ohliger, Solingen is recognised as one of the rarest early commercial manufacturers, with production believed to have been limited to approximately 2,000 daggers before the company ceased producing SA weapons. Because of this limited output, Ohliger-marked daggers are highly regarded and command strong interest among collectors today.
Daggers by F. Ed. Ohliger are considerably scarcer than those from more common manufacturers such as Eickhorn, SMF or Carl Julius Krebs. Their limited production, distinctive trademark and early nickel-mounted construction make them particularly desirable for collectors seeking rare commercial-maker SA daggers. Examples with honest untouched condition, original anodised scabbards and clearly defined maker marks remain increasingly difficult to acquire.
