More about the product

An original Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen) by the highly desirable maker Fec. Adolf Bock / Ausf. Schwerin Berlin. This early war badge retains excellent detail, with the silvered battleship standing proudly against the remaining gilt oak leaf wreath and Kriegsmarine eagle.

Instituted on 30 April 1941 by Grand Admiral Erich Raeder, the High Seas Fleet Badge was awarded to officers and sailors serving aboard Germany’s battleships, heavy cruisers and pocket battleships. Qualification generally required twelve weeks of operational service, although the award could also be granted for outstanding actions, wounds sustained in combat, or the loss of a vessel during active operations.

The reverse displays the desirable maker’s mark “FEC. ADOLF BOCK AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN”, complete with the correct early vertical pin, block hinge and flat wire catch. These early Schwerin-produced tombak badges are among the most sought-after examples due to their superior construction and attractive gilt finish.

This example shows honest age-related wear and patina, while retaining excellent definition throughout the battleship, wreath and eagle. The pin assembly remains complete and functional, making it an attractive original example suitable for both display and advanced Kriegsmarine collections.
