€ 875
An original Second World War German Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse 1939) manufactured by the renowned firm C.F. Zimmermann of Pforzheim, complete with its original fitted presentation case and the highly desirable matching outer cardboard issue carton.
The cross retains its classic three-piece construction, featuring a magnetic iron core with a blackened finish surrounded by a silvered frame. The reverse is fitted with the correct broad pin and hinge assembly, with the pin stamped “20”, the wartime PKZ maker code assigned to C.F. Zimmermann.
Included is the original black leatherette presentation case, displaying the silver Iron Cross emblem to the lid and retaining its original cream velvet base and white silk lining. Also accompanying the set is the original printed outer carton, clearly marked “Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse 1939” together with C.F. Zimmermann, Ordenfabrik, Pforzheim, making this a complete and increasingly difficult-to-find cased example.
Complete Iron Cross sets retaining both the original case and matching issue carton are highly sought after, particularly those by respected manufacturers such as Zimmermann.
Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
The 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class remains one of the most iconic German military decorations of the Second World War. Complete cased examples are always desirable, but examples retaining their original manufacturer-marked outer issue carton are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Produced by the prestigious maker C.F. Zimmermann, this complete set represents an outstanding addition to any advanced collection of German awards and militaria.
