€ 225
This original 25 Year Army Long Service Award is a fine example of the Wehrmacht long service decorations introduced to recognise lengthy and faithful military service. Issued to members of the German Army (Heer), the award features the distinctive gilt cross suspended from a dark blue ribbon complete with the correct gilt Heer eagle device.
The obverse displays the national eagle and swastika within a central medallion, while the reverse is engraved with the number “25”, denoting twenty-five years of service. This example retains its original ribbon and attachment ring, making it an excellent addition to any collection of Wehrmacht awards.
This 25 Year Army Long Service Award remains in excellent original condition.
The gilt finish is bright and well preserved, with only minor handling wear consistent with age. The original dark blue ribbon is present and fitted with the correct gilt Heer eagle device. The suspension ring is intact, and the decoration displays beautifully with excellent definition throughout.
The 25 Year Army Long Service Award formed part of the Wehrmacht Long Service Decorations instituted in 1936. The awards recognised officers and career soldiers who had completed extended periods of honourable military service.
The 25-year award is distinguished by its gilt finish and blue ribbon fitted with the appropriate Heer eagle device. Decorations of this class were significantly less common than the 4-year and 12-year awards, as comparatively few personnel completed the required length of service.
The 25 Year Army Long Service Award is one of the more desirable Wehrmacht long service decorations due to its longer qualifying period and attractive gilt finish. Complete examples retaining their original ribbon and correct Heer eagle device are increasingly sought after by collectors.
Whether displayed individually or incorporated into a larger collection of Wehrmacht medals, this decoration represents an important piece of German military history and remains an excellent addition for collectors specialising in long service awards or Army insignia.
