Original Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft (NS-Frauenschaft) Membership Badge

The badge displays the traditional NS-Frauenschaft emblem, consisting of a white cross with a red swastika at its centre and stylised runic “S” motifs in the surrounding fields. It is finished in fired enamel over a metal base and retains excellent definition and colour.

The reverse bears the desirable RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) approval mark together with the maker code M1/763, confirming production by an officially licensed manufacturer. The original horizontal pin and catch remain intact.

Condition

This example is in very good original condition. The enamel shows an attractive gloss with only minor age-related wear, while the reverse retains a pleasing untouched finish. The RZM stamp and maker code are crisp and easily legible, adding to its collectability.

Historical Background

The Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft (NS-Frauenschaft) served as the official women’s organisation of the NSDAP. Formed in 1931 and expanded after 1933, it promoted the regime’s ideals relating to family life, welfare work, education, and women’s roles within German society. Membership badges such as this identified women affiliated with the organisation and were worn on civilian clothing during meetings, rallies and official events.

The RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) was responsible for licensing and regulating the manufacture of political insignia. The M1 prefix identifies a badge manufacturer authorised to produce metal insignia, while the number 763 identifies the specific licensed maker.
