An exceptional and increasingly scarce pair of original Third Reich deluxe Land Customs (Zollgrenzschutz) dagger hangers, manufactured to the highest officer-quality standard for wear with the Model 1938 Land Customs Officer’s Dagger.
Constructed with rich dark green velvet backing, these deluxe hangers feature finely woven silver aluminium bullion brocade with the correct twin dark green woven stripes running the full length of each strap. The fittings are manufactured from high-quality aluminium and include the distinctive oak leaf decorated oval adjustment bucklestogether with matching engraved sliding adjusters, all retaining an attractive untouched period finish.
The lower suspension clips are the correct pebbled spring-loaded aluminium fittings, operating smoothly and designed to securely attach to the suspension rings of the dagger scabbard. The reverse retains the original leather tabs and upper suspension bar, with all stitching appearing original and untouched.
These deluxe hangers were privately purchased by senior officials of the Zollgrenzschutz (Land Customs Service) and are encountered far less frequently than standard Army officer dagger hangers. Their distinctive green colour scheme perfectly complemented the green grip and fittings of the Land Customs officer’s dagger, making them an essential component of a complete and original presentation.
The overall condition is excellent, displaying only light age-related wear consistent with careful preservation. The bullion remains bright, the velvet backing retains excellent colour, and all aluminium fittings exhibit an attractive natural patina. A highly desirable and increasingly difficult-to-find accessory that would complement any advanced collection of Third Reich edged weapons.
Condition: Excellent original condition with light period wear. All fittings are matching and fully functional.
