Original WWII German Luftwaffe & SS Ribbon Bar – War Merit Cross Medal Group 10 position

More about the product

This is a very interesting German WWII ribbon bar (Ordenspange) combining military long-service, political, and likely occupation/service awards. The construction appears period-style, though as always with Third Reich ribbon bars, originality should be confirmed by examining the reverse, stitching, and mounting hardware.

From left to right, the awards appear to be:

1. War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern)
   • Identified by the red-white-black ribbon with crossed swords device.
   • Awarded for wartime merit in support of the war effort under combat conditions.
2. Luftwaffe Long Service Award
   • Blue ribbon with Luftwaffe eagle device.
   • Likely representing 4 or 12 years loyal service in the Luftwaffe.
3. SS Long Service Award
   • Blue ribbon with silver “SS” runic device.
   • Indicates service in the Allgemeine-SS or Waffen-SS.
4. War Merit Medal 1939 (Kriegsverdienstmedaille)
   • Black-white-red ribbon with narrow red center stripe.
   • Civil or auxiliary wartime merit award.
5. Possibly Eastern Front / occupation / civil service style ribbon
   • The black-and-white striped ribbon is harder to identify definitively from the photo alone.
6. Italian-German Campaign or Fascist-era associated ribbon with crossed swords device
   • The green-white-red pattern strongly suggests Italian association.
   • May represent an Italo-German campaign decoration or postwar mounted addition.
7. Final red-and-white striped ribbon
   • Possibly a commemorative or foreign service award.
   • Difficult to identify conclusively without reverse inspection or dimensions.

Overall, the bar suggests a recipient with:

• Luftwaffe service,
• SS affiliation,
• wartime merit awards,
• and possibly Italian theater or Axis-allied service.

Condition:

• Ribbons remain bright and tightly mounted.
• Devices appear intact.
• Some age wear and light fraying visible.
• Overall display quality is very good.

Estimated Value (subject to authenticity):

• If confirmed original period-mounted: approximately £180–£450
• If linked to identifiable SS/Luftwaffe personnel: potentially higher
• If postwar assembled or partially reconstructed: roughly £60–£120

The SS long-service ribbon device substantially increases collector interest
