n Silber), awarded to German military personnel who had been wounded three or four times in combat or had sustained particularly serious injuries while serving with the German armed forces. Introduced on 1 September 1939, the Silver Grade represented the intermediate class between the Black and Gold Wound Badges.

This example features the desirable solid-back construction, produced in tombak with a silvered finish. The obverse displays the classic design of a German steel helmet bearing the swastika, superimposed over crossed swords and enclosed within an oak leaf wreath. The details remain sharp and well defined, complemented by an attractive naturally aged patina.

The reverse retains its original hinge, pin and catch assembly, all of which remain secure and fully functional. The pin is maker marked “100”, identifying manufacture by Rudolf Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida, a respected wartime producer whose awards are sought after by collectors.

An honest, untouched wartime example from a recognised manufacturer, making it an excellent addition to any collection of German militaria or Second World War awards.
