This is an original Third Reich Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft (NS-Frauenschaft) membership badge featuring the scarcer blue enamel border variant. More about the product

Unlike the more commonly encountered black-bordered examples, this badge is finished with an attractive cobalt blue enamel border, making it a desirable variation for collectors of Third Reich political insignia. The reverse is officially RZM marked and bears the manufacturer code M1/46, identifying production by an authorised Reichszeugmeisterei contractor.

Historical Background

The Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft (National Socialist Women’s League) was the official women’s organisation of the NSDAP. Established in 1931, it expanded rapidly after 1933 and became responsible for promoting welfare programmes, family policy, education, and the regime’s ideals regarding women’s roles within German society.

Members wore these enamel badges on civilian clothing during official meetings, rallies, and organisational activities. Variations in border colour are known and are believed to represent different production periods or manufacturers rather than separate grades of membership.

Construction

This badge is manufactured from die-struck metal with high-quality fired enamel in blue, black, white and red. The reverse retains its original soldered pin assembly and catch, together with the official RZM approval mark.

The maker code M1/46 identifies one of the licensed manufacturers authorised by the Reichszeugmeisterei to produce political insignia during the Third Reich period.

Condition

This example displays excellent period character with an attractive untouched patina to the reverse. The enamel remains bright overall, although there is a small period chip and light hairline cracking within the black enamel field, as illustrated in the photographs. The blue border is particularly vibrant and enhances the overall appearance. The original pin, hinge and catch remain complete and fully intact.
