The right-hand collar tab features the distinctive SS runes above the numeral “1”, identifying the wearer as a member of SS-Standarte “Deutschland”, one of the original formations that later became part of the SS-Verfügungstruppe and ultimately the 2. SS-Panzer-Division “Das Reich”. The left-hand collar tab carries the correct single silver rank pipdenoting the rank of SS-Untersturmführer.
