This SS Deutschland cuff title is an exceptional early officer-quality example associated with SS-Standarte “Deutschland,” later SS-Regiment “Deutschland” of the SS-Verfügungstruppe. Fine silver-coloured aluminium wire forms the Gothic inscription on a dense black woven ground. Most importantly, the reverse retains an original-style woven RZM/SS St 225/35 label. The early script, hand-worked construction and surviving 1935-dated control marking make this a particularly desirable piece of early SS textile insignia.

The St designation relates to the RZM-controlled manufacture of SS cuff titles and identifies the contractor associated with the embroidery stage.
The number 225 identifies the contractor code.
Meanwhile, the number 35 indicates a 1935 production marking.
This dating fits the early Gothic lettering extremely well.
Consequently, the label adds much more than collector appeal. It provides important technical information about the production period and manufacturing system.
Many surviving SS cuff titles lost their original control labels.
Tailors could remove labels when fitting insignia to uniforms. Handling, wear and post-war collecting also caused many examples to lose them.
A surviving St 225/35 label therefore adds considerable research value.
However, collectors should never authenticate a cuff title from a label alone.
