The collar patch is manufactured from quality black wool and finished with the correct black and silver twisted rayon cord. At its centre sits the original zinc rank pip, which displays crisp detail and an attractive untouched patina.
Furthermore, the reverse retains its original buckram stiffener together with both attachment prongs. These construction features are consistent with period manufacture and demonstrate careful wartime production techniques.
The SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS-VT) formed the military arm of the Schutzstaffel before the creation of the Waffen-SS. Initially established in 1934, the organisation received military training while remaining separate from the regular German Army. However, after the Polish Campaign and the early stages of the Second World War, the SS-VT evolved into what became the Waffen-SS.
The rank of SS-Rottenführer represented a junior leadership position. Consequently, men holding this rank frequently supervised small groups of soldiers and assisted senior non-commissioned officers during training and combat duties.
