This TeNo 1922 Honour Badge is a scarce multi-piece decoration of the German Technische Nothilfe, or Technical Emergency Service. The obverse combines a large TeNo eagle, oak-leaf wreath, dated 1922 tablet and an elaborate enamelled central emblem.
Most importantly, the date does not represent the year in which the badge was manufactured or awarded. Instead, 1922 records the recipient’s year of entry into the Technische Nothilfe. The award itself was formally instituted on 2 April 1935 for qualifying long-serving members.
A substantial national eagle dominates the upper section of the badge. Beneath it sits the circular Technische Nothilfe emblem surrounded by oak leaves and the dated 1922 tablet.
Inside the centre appears the distinctive industrial symbolism associated with TeNo. Black and red enamel provides a dramatic background, while a cogwheel and stylised technical emblem complete the design.

Over time, its role expanded beyond industrial emergencies. Disaster relief, flood response, accident assistance and later civil-defence duties became increasingly important.
