An original Second World War NSKK Verkehrserziehungsdienst sleeve shield, worn by members of the Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps (NSKK) who served within the Traffic Education Service, responsible for driver instruction, road safety education and vehicle training.
The die-struck metal shield features the NSKK eagle with outstretched wings above a laurel wreath enclosing the swastika. Across the top appears the “NSKK” title, while the lower portion bears the inscription “Verkehrserziehungsdienst” (“Traffic Education Service”). The shield is mounted on its original black cloth backing and retains its original attachment prongs to the reverse.
Constructed from zinc with a bronze finish, the shield displays an attractive, untouched period patina with honest age-related wear. The original cloth backing remains intact and is consistent with wartime wear, further enhancing its authenticity and display appeal.
An increasingly difficult insignia to source, this NSKK specialist sleeve shield represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a scarce piece of wartime NSKK insignia for any advanced Third Reich or German militaria collection.
The sleeve shield remains in very good original condition with crisp detailing throughout. The bronze finish displays honest age-related wear and an attractive period patina. The original attachment prongs remain present and intact, while the original black cloth backing shows expected signs of age and service but remains complete. Overall, a genuine wartime example with excellent display appeal.
